JESSICA BESHIR (DIRECTOR/PRODUCER/CINEMATOGRAPHER) Mexican-Ethiopian filmmaker, Jessica Beshir received her B.A in film studies and literature at UCLA. She recently directed the short He Who Dances on Wood and is currently producing her first feature film set in Harar. Jessica is based in Brooklyn, NY.
EFREM DEGU BEKELE (CINEMATOGRAPHER) Efrem studied cinematography at the Blue Nile Academy in Ethiopia. He has worked as a cinematographer in several Ethiopian films including From Bulbula to Bole and Des Yemil Sekay. Efrem currently lives in Seattle.
CHARLIE HOXIE (EDITOR) Charlie’s work for BRIC TV has earned two New York Emmy nominations and a New York Emmy award. His 2011 documentary on the Passive House building standard has screened at film festivals around the world and aired locally on NYCTV.
LANGUAGE GAMES (SCORE) Language Games is a Brooklyn based independent electronic music project formed in 2015 by Mathew McFeely & Chris Hahm. The duo is currently working on their debut album.
TOM EFINGER (SOUND EDITING AND SOUND DESIGN) Tom Efinger attended Phillips Andover Academy and later graduated from the University of Vermont, where he studied music, English literature, and theater. He began his film career in New York City in the early 90's, and has since worked on numerous film and television projects as Supervising Sound Editor and Re-recording Mixer including Half Nelson, Man Push Cart, The Station Agent and Good Bye Solo. He is currently employed as President and Creative Director at Dig It Audio.
NICHOLAS CUCCI (COLORIST) Nick Cucci has been creating media for more than a decade. He works as the lead director and producer at Whitespire and is the head of production at PVH. He has been practicing the art of color for two years.
YUSSUF MUME SALEH (THE HYENA MAN OF HARAR) Yussuf is a farmer by day and the world renowned “Hyena Man of Harar” by night. He has practiced a ritualistic fervor of bonding and feeding hyenas for decades and he remains under their spell. Over the years, people from all over the world have flocked to Harar to witness this unique nightly event. Yussuf has been featured in multiple publications around the globe including National Geographic and BBC.
ELIAS SHAGIZ ADONAY TESFAYE (POET) Elias is a journalist and a poet based in Harar, Ethiopia. He is involved in the promotion of Harari cultural history and heritage through the Harari Youth Development Association. He is currently working on a book of his collected poems.
